The Firecracker Bush forming some really beautiful blooms in late winter, South Florida.
Justicia spicigera, as it is scientifically known, grows into a beautiful flowering bush with large, glossy deep green foilage. This plant looks lovely placed out in a raised garden bed mixed amongst ferns, as shown here.
Also called Mexican Honeysuckle or Orange Plume flower, this plant grows to about 3 feet tall in optimum conditions. Do protect it from frost, and place it in a shade garden for best results.
